REVERTED 2026-08-31: the retirement filed earlier today is withdrawn. It rested on the rate row disappearing from the PRICING page, which is an inference; the deprecations page carries a first-party, per-row marker for "already shut down" (the legend: "Already-shutdown models are indicated with gray backgrounds", a literal class="row-gray" on the <tr>) and this row is NOT gray. Google therefore still asserts the endpoint is running. Gray beats a missing rate row; status returns to deprecated and the changelog entry is removed as our own error (LEARNINGS #48).
