Kimi K2 (0711 Preview)

The original Kimi K2 (0711) release, deprecated/discontinued 2026-05-25 per official model list; Moonshot now names kimi-k3 as the migration target (it named kimi-k2.6 until this page was rewritten). Release implied by '0711' (2025-07-11) and corroborated by Moonshot's original K2 launch. Pricing no longer on official pages so left null. Original K2 context window was 128K (131072) per Moonshot's original K2 docs/GitHub. First-party re-read 2026-09-06, unchanged from the 2026-09-02 read: Moonshot still lists this id in its Deprecated Models table as "Deprecated", and the retirement warning at the top of that page names only the kimi-k2.5 and moonshot-v1 series as returning 404 — the kimi-k2 series is NOT included in it. So the 2026-05-25 date has passed without Moonshot asserting a shutdown, and the status deliberately stays "deprecated" rather than being flipped on date arithmetic. retires_on was nulled on 2026-09-06: until that day this row also published retires_on 2026-05-25, which was deprecated_on copied into a second field. Moonshot states exactly one date for the kimi-k2 series — the date it was "officially discontinued" — and has never published a shutdown or retirement date for it, so the retirement date was ours and not the provider's. A past retires_on reads to a feed consumer as "this endpoint is dead" while status says otherwise, and it left this note contradicting its own field.
